For centuries, hope has been a driving force to push humans past inconceivable limits to build, reach, and achieve things beyond imagination. We at Bluebirds for Hope, choose to be the driving force for those affected by tragedies and hardships to push past the limits, and reach a successful victory from their troubles. Just as the Bluebird is a sign of hope, it's just as much a symbol of strength.

Melissa’s Story:
Many of you may already know Melissa. She has spent her entire life caring for others, working in healthcare at Abbey Hospice, Newton General, Cardiac Rehab, and Northside Hospital — helping countless families through their hardest days.
Melissa made the selfless decision to move back to Georgia in 2008 to care for her own mother, who had been in a car accident and faced many health issues sincet. Not long after, Melissa herself was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Her journey hasn’t been easy.
After years of battling endometriosis and being told she may never have children, Melissa was blessed at age 36 with the miracle of adopting her beautiful daughter, Jasmine, who is now 11 years old and a straight-A student.
Melissa has endured:
• A tumor on her reproductive organs
• A partial hysterectomy at 38, followed by a full hysterectomy at 40
• A recent double mastectomy in February
• A terrifying anaphylactic reaction during surgery, where she nearly coded
• And now, doctors have found her lymph nodes are positive for cancer, with another surgery scheduled Monday
Her treatment plan will be determined after this next surgery.
As if that wasn’t enough, their family has also faced:
• Thousands in out-of-pocket medical expenses
• Jasmine needing braces
• Their beloved dog losing a leg to cancer
• A $3,000 unexpected car repair
• And Melissa’s husband, Thomas, having to cut back work hours to care for his wife and daughter
Now It’s Our Turn to Care for Her
Melissa has spent her life caring for our community. She has cared for our parents, grandparents, and loved ones.
Now it’s our turn to care for her.
Your ticket purchase will help ease the financial burden on this incredible family while giving you a chance to win an amazing lawnmower just in time for grass-cutting season.
